Just one hour’s drive from our campsite, discover the salt cultivation process and all its associated trades.
In a traditional-style boat, go with the flow on a trip and escape from it all to visit the salt marshes in the most authentic way possible. Discover the trade of salt worker as well as the very special flora and fauna of this preserved environment. Our guides will be delighted to show you how to harvest Sea Salt and its Fleur de Sel (gourmet salt).
You can continue your visit with a walk along the Parcours Historique (historic path) where the salt marshes and bird nesting areas meet.
You can also bring home a few grams of Fleur de Sel to delight your family or friends after your trip to the salthouse…
The salt production site ‘Les Salines de La Chaume’ has received the French Bronze Tourism Medal.
Open in April, May, September and October from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm & from 2 to 6:30 pm. June, July, August, from 9:15 am to 7 pm.
